Our History
Since opening in 2009, Beta Lounge has become a mainstay in the downtown Berkeley nightlife scene. With a full bar, eight rotating taps, an impressive variety of Belgian & Craft beers and Happy Hour from 4-7pm Mon-Sat, Beta Lounge is an oasis here in Berkeley, California. If you’re looking for a nice mellow place to hang out for drinks, a bite to eat and a great clean atmosphere, Beta is the perfect spot. Come by after work or on the late night. Casual sophistication in the heart of Berkeley!
- 2009 – Beta Lounge opens it’s doors in downtown Berkeley with a selection of Craft Beers, Wines, Sakes, delicious bites and one-of-a-kind French Bread Pizzas!!
- 2012 – Beta adds a Full-Bar!! Continues to be a go-to-spot for UC Berkeley graduate students, faculties and department staff!
- 2018 – New Owner/Management takes over on Nov 1st with an intention to make Beta the most popular little bar in Berkeley!
- 2019 – Celebrating 10th year in downtown Berkeley!
- 2020 – COVID-19! Shut-down for 2 weeks… reopened as a low-priced takeout kitchen ‘Neighborhood Kitchen’, allowing customers to order food online for themselves and the homeless of Berkeley! Towards the end of the year, bars were allowed to re-open and so did Beta Lounge!
- 2021-2023 Adjusting to the new Post-covid Berkeley!
